REMINDER
Due to the increasing number of students participating in NYSSMA each year and to prevent over populating later festivals, students may NOT be registered for a solo festival outside the borough of the school that they attend. Even if the student lives in a different borough, they are to be registered for the festival that takes place in the borough of the school they go to. There are certain exceptions to this, and all must be approved by the Zone Representative:
- The solo the student is registering for is not offered at their home borough site (ie. a piano student in the Bronx, as the Celia Cruz festival does not offer piano)
- There is a documented medical condition that warrants the student to take the adjudication on another date (ie. scheduled surgery)
- There is a documented family event that occurs during the dates of the festival (ie. a family wedding or funeral)
- The student needs to be rescheduled due to a family or medical emergency
- Any other situation to be decided on by the Zone Representative: Kevin Heathwood
Email zone12@nyssma.org with any inquiries.

How to NYSSMA:
How to NYSSMA:
- Use this sample registration form (or you can make your own) and make it available for students interested in registering for NYSSMA.
- This form should be made available in your main office for private music students and homeschooled students to come to the school and register.
- NYSSMA does not allow private teachers or homeschooled students to apply on their own, they must apply through their local school. This is a service we MUST provide to our community.
- Students should submit the form along with payments directly to you (unless your school will cover the cost)
- Help students fill out the composition info, particularly the page in the NYSSMA Manual the piece is on
- Collect forms and deposit payments into school treasury
- Go to www.DaCapoMusicFestivals.com and either login or create an account
- Using the collected forms, register your students
- Once you enter in every student, go to “Billing” and print the invoice
- Bring invoice to purchasing secretary or school treasurer and have them cut ONE check from the school for the total amount shown on the invoice
- Mail the invoice and check to the festival chair (this info is provided on the invoice)
- In the weeks leading up to the festival you will get a schedule as well as the ability to print playing permits for every student
- Print and hand out the playing permits to your students the week leading up to the festival
- The day of NYSSMA students are to come to the festival site with their instrument, playing permit, and an ORIGINAL copy of the music. Two is preferred (one for judge one for student), but only 1 is required.
