Main Purpose of the Role: The Léman Manhattan Preparatory School Middle & High School Music Teacher/Chorus Director is part of an exciting and collaborative Fine Arts Department and the Upper School Division. The Middle & High School Music Teacher/Chorus Director is highly qualified and motivated to teach 6th-12th grade music classes. They are positive, collaborative, creative, organized, and passionate about student learning. They are an effective communicator and a reflective practitioner. Key Responsibilities: (The primary tasks, functions and deliverables of the role) -Directs four curricular choral ensembles: 6th Grade Chorus, 7th/8th Grade Chorus, High School Chorus, and one extracurricular ensemble: Women’s Choir (8th-12th) -Teaches one or two sections of High School Digital Music class (documented curriculum is in place) -If possible, teaches one or two weekly Middle School group lessons (Band) -Participates on the production staff for the annual Upper School musical (extracurricular) -Differentiates repertoire and teaching techniques to meet student needs -Effectively manages the classroom environment -Coordinates rehearsals and concerts -Maintains consistent communication with families -Facilitates piano tuning for chorus classroom and practice rooms -Maintains choral music library -Collaborates and contributes as a team member of the Fine Arts Department as well as the Upper School faculty -Utilizes learning management and student information systems provided by the school -Presents a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school; demonstrates behavior that is professional and ethical as identified in Employee Handbook (inside and outside of school) -Continues to grow professionally by participating in educational opportunities, reads professional publications, and participates in professional organizations -Demonstrates flexibility and a positive attitude toward new challenges and growth opportunities -Participates in school-wide events; attends during and after-school functions in support of school community -Completes a minimum of two duties as assigned by Division Head (number of duties may vary depending on role) -Attends and participates in all required faculty and staff meetings and serves on school committees as needed -Completes responsibilities as assigned by Director of Fine Arts or Division Head based on student and school needs

Requirements

Requirements:
-Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education (Master’s Degree preferred)
-Experience in teaching music and directing choral ensembles
-Experience in teaching middle and high school students
-Familiarity with curriculum design for music education
-Strong piano skills preferred
-Ability to teach a brass or woodwind instrument on the middle school level preferred
-Familiarity with Garage Band and music notation software preferred
