Description
Desired Characteristics, Responsibilities, and Duties: • Implement engaging curriculum in the middle school general music classes, aligned to current NYS Learning Standards • Select and teach appropriate choral music at the middle and high school levels • Lead students in rehearsals to prepare for school concerts • Provide small group instruction to prepare students for All-County, Area All-State, and NYSSMA solo festivals • Piano skills strongly preferred • Work collaboratively with the inter- and cross- departmental peers to implement content and that fosters inquiry, analysis, and evaluation • Implement student-centered practices in assessment of student growth, grading, and reporting • Maintain communication and engagement with parents/guardians in a timely fashion regarding individual student progress, celebrations, and reporting of concerns • Implement differentiated models of instruction to meet the needs of a variety of learners, including students in need of modifications and accommodations • Commitment to professional development, teamwork, and innovation in the field • Performs other duties as assigned by the building principal or Superintendent of Schools content and cross-curricular content that fosters critical inquiry, analysis and evaluation
Requirements
Must hold appropriate New York State teacher certification in Music.
