RESEARCH ARTICLES IN SCHOOL MUSIC NEWS

Interested individuals from around the country can also publish research-related articles in School Music News. You do not need to be a NYSSMA member to submit and proposals (abstracts describing a manuscript) and completed manuscripts are accepted on a rolling basis.

Call for Submissions

The New York State School Music Association Research Committee seeks brief research-based contributions to our state magazine, School Music News. Contributions can be summaries of original research, research-based practical articles, or articles about research more generally and should be written for a readership of practitioners.

We consider both proposals (abstracts between 150-250 words) and completed manuscripts (APA 7 form, up to 1500 words not including references). Please send a proposal (150-250 words) or full manuscript (up to 1500 words) the NYSSMA Research Chair, Dr. Mara E. Culp at research@nyssma.org

Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis. Research committee members will review the proposals and send notifications of acceptance, typically within 90 days of submission.
