Description
Five Towns College, a leader in higher education for creative and performing arts, is seeking a passionate, experienced, and innovative instructor to join our Music and Music Education Departments. The ideal candidate will bring a rich blend of practical industry experience in their respective field and academic insight to foster the next generation of performers, composers, songwriters, and educators. They should have experience conducting a Symphony Orchestra or Chamber Orchestra and should be able to teach aspiring educators how to play and teach string instruments. They must also be able to: · Run effective rehearsals · Mentor pre-service teachers in their respective area of study by developing their knowledge, skills, and professional dispositions · Have a thorough knowledge of NY State Teaching Standards, and the NY State requirements for teaching certification. · Perform administrative tasks utilizing the college's learning management system (LMS) related to course management, such as maintaining Canvas course shells, attendance tracking, and submitting grades, etc. · Participate in departmental activities, including curriculum development, student advisement, and faculty committees. · Guide students through hands-on projects, ensuring a balance between creative expression and technical skill. · Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and contribute to the vibrant community of the college.
Requirements
· Master’s degree in Music Performance, Music Education, or a related field.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to student success.
· Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, dynamic academic environment.
