Location: U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, New York Position: Part-time Duties: Conduct small group lessons focusing on ensemble playing, intonation, balance, blend, and stylistic accuracy. Foster a strong team environment and contribute positively to the musical culture. Prepare students for performances by guiding them through technical and artistic aspects of their instruments. Monitor and assess each student's progress, offering constructive feedback and adapting lesson plans to address individual needs. Encourage and organize group practice sessions and performance opportunities to build confidence and stage presence. Maintain accurate records of each student's progress, including attendance and performance evaluations. Provide detailed lesson plans for group instruction and ensure all teaching materials are prepared and utilized effectively. Requirements: A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in music education, specifically teaching high brass instruments at the high school or college level. Proven experience in both teaching and performing on high brass instruments such as trumpet, cornet, French horn, and mellophone. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, essential for effectively engaging and inspiring students at various levels of proficiency. Expertise in high brass techniques, including tone production, articulation, breath control, and phrasing, with a focus on ensemble playing and stylistic accuracy. Ability to create and implement effective lesson plans tailored to the specific needs and abilities of high brass students. Experience in preparing students for both solo and ensemble performances, ensuring they have the technical and artistic skills necessary to excel. Ability to foster a positive, collaborative, and encouraging learning environment that supports students' musical and personal development.
