Description
The Ithaca City School District is seeking a dynamic music educator to teach and direct the IHS orchestras. The ideal candidate for this position will demonstrate exceptional musical skills in teaching and performing a primary and secondary instrument in violin, viola, cello, and bass. They will possess enthusiasm for teaching in both small group, ensemble and large orchestra settings, coupled with a genuine passion for working with high school students. As the Director of the Ithaca High School orchestras, the individual will play a pivotal role in guiding intermediate and advanced musicians in grades 9 through 12 in two separate orchestras and also teach music theory one and two. The Director will foster the development of student musical identities through skill development, knowledge, and overall musicianship. Furthermore, the educator will cultivate an awareness of the students' roles within the broader orchestral community, promoting an inclusive, collaborative, and welcoming environment that enriches the overall music program.
