Job Duties Description
Elementary Music Teacher
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
Through general music classes, introduces children to various musical performers and styles. Students learn about creating, performing and listening to music. Elementary music teachers provide students with basic vocal instruction and teach them about various instruments, including percussion, brass, woodwinds and string instruments. They use hands-on activities to teach children pitch, rhythm and music notation. Evaluates performance, grade tests and prepares lesson plans.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES (illustrative only):
• Create lesson plans, actively instructs students;
• Creates positive educational climate for students to learn in;
• Manage students in the classroom;
• Observes and evaluates student’s performance;
• Prepares and distributes required reports;
• May include other duties such as monitoring of hallways, cafeterias and other common areas before, during and after school.
FULL PERFORMANCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
• Proven experience as a teacher preferred;
• Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines partnered with a willingness to follow the school’s policies and procedures;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Valid New York State Certification in Music (all grades)
SALARY: Per Delaware Academy Faculty Association (DAFA) Agreement.
